ZÜBLIN with new logo for chimney and refractory division

This press release has:

Press release Plain text

  • Züblin Chimney and Refractory GmbH makes its acronym “ZCR” to its trademark
  • Goal: to hone the market profile and make the core service spectrum more visible
  • First public appearance at the 2019 International Refractory Colloquium in Aachen

Cologne-based Züblin Chimney and Refractory GmbH is modernising its brand image and as of today will no longer use the ZÜBLIN logo but its own trademark.

The new logo features the acronym “ZCR” coupled with a red symbol representing the two main business fields of refractory and chimney engineering to highlight the service profile of the long-established company, which also operates in the fields of fire protection and technical insulation. “We can look back on a more than 160-year history in chimney and refractory engineering that was significantly shaped by the names HOF, OOMS-ITTNER and Behmann,” explains Susanne Winter, commercial director of ZÜBLIN Chimney and Refractory. “These three well-known companies have long since grown into a renowned player in the chimney and refractory business under the umbrella of Ed. Züblin AG. Now it is time to further hone our market profile and to give our name ZÜBLIN Chimney and Refractory – ZCR – its own future-oriented brand profile.” The launch of the new logo coincides with the International Refractory Colloquium in Aachen that starts today. By the end of 2019, ZCR plans to have the logo on its construction sites, office buildings and vehicles everywhere.

Increasing the visibility of the company

Züblin Chimney and Refractory GmbH has been the company name since 2013, when the ZÜBLIN subsidiaries OOMS-ITTNER-HOF (OIH) and BFB joined forces with SFB Behmann Feuerfestbau GmbH (Behmann). “The immense wealth of experience of both companies in refractory and chimney engineering as well as in the business areas of fire protection and technical insulation dating back to the 19th century is unique in Germany,” emphasise Susanne Winter and ZCR technical director Rudolf Mallweger with recognisable pride. They both see the future use of this knowledge advantage and continuous expansion of the competencies, especially in the area of innovation and technology, as part of the core strategy for the company’s continued success. “The launch of the new logo is a small but important part of our strategic alignment, which we intend to use to further expand our position in the marketplace. Our high-quality, technologically advanced solutions from a single source should always be visually linked with the name ZCR for our customers. This is our vision, which we want to express with the new logo,” says Mallweger.

Design represents the core services of ZCR

In choosing a new logo, ZÜBLIN Chimney and Refractory deliberately opted for a word-image combination. The abbreviation ZCR serves as the company name, as this has become the standard term both within the company and among the customers. The distinctive design element in the logo is the symbol. “It primarily represents our most important segment of refractory engineering,” says Winter, “but also looks like the view into a chimney from above.” The ZCR logo was designed based on the appearance of the chemical compounds in refractory building materials (e.g. silicon carbide) as well as the brick-like layering of these materials. The rigid structure of the logo anchors what ZCR stands for: reliability, quality, know-how and state-of-the-art solutions. The logo maintains the existing colour spectrum with the same bright red that belongs to the core of the ZÜBLIN and STRABAG brand to create a visual bridge to the corporate group.

Visitors to the International Refractory Colloquium can get a first glimpse of the new logo at the ZCR exhibition stand (No. 17) at Eurogress Aachen. Effective immediately, the new look is also to be found on the company website www.zueblin-cr.de.
